![]() This isn't just a “hotel on a beach”, but a lush property with perfectly maintained, beautiful grounds, meandering paths and low-rise buildings that are meticulously maintained. The Valentin has a special ability to hire and train staff who are fun, friendly, professional and talented and who go out of their way to ensure that you'll have the best vacation ever! The incredible staff are this resort's most valuable asset, but the resort itself is also special. As always, everyone treated us like royalty and ensured that our vacation was outstanding in every way! We were treated this way from our very first visit. The Covid safety measures (required at all hotels) were reasonable and had no negative effect at all on our enjoyment. ![]() The staff and management went out of their way to ensure that the resort was safe for visitors. This was our 21st time at this fabulous resort after having to cancel last year because of Covid. We were at the Valentin for 2 weeks at the end of September. Overall, we felt the cost we paid exceeded what the resort offered. Apparently we were in a renovated room and this is a huge design oversight by the resort. The toilet has zero privacy (it's just a glass door with some frosted strips across it). We did not like the set up of the bathroom in our room. It was obvious that the shopping areas the excursion guides took us to received some sort of kickback. ![]() Be wary of the excursion company at the resort. Onsite shopping is expensive! Go to Playa del Carmen or Tulum for better shopping experiences. I was sad to learn that they work 6 days a week, surely the resort can afford to pay them more and work 5 on with 2 days off. Garbages are everywhere so it's inexcusable for guests at the resort to not put their garbage in the bins. The grounds are lovely, but it was sad to see people (ie guests) being lazy and leaving their trash on the ground. The evening entertainment was spot on and enjoyable every night. There were times the wifi wasn't working, so we couldn't see the menu. Most of the restaurants were fantastic, but we didn't like having to scan using our phones for the menu. All of them only asked us once as they went by and left us alone after we said no. The beach was stunning however, you will be regularly approached by people trying to sell you things. Suites and the beachfront Emerald Suites, two of my favorite room categories at this resort.VIM was our first all inclusive resort experience and while we enjoyed our time at the resort we felt some things could have been improved upon. The room category section at the beginning of the video is rather long if you don’t want to hear about all the rooms, be sure to watch the segments on the Golden Swim-Up Jr. long (like I said, it’s full of details), but you can always jump ahead to a section you are more interested in or have more questions about. Not only is a bad vacation choice a waste of money, it is a waste of time which is a commodity you can never get back. The more you know about the resort you are thinking of booking, the better a vacation choice you will make for yourself and have less regrets afterwards. I found this YouTube video to be very informative it was produced with travel agents in mind, but it gives so many details about the resort that it may answer most vacationer’s questions about this property. My daughter and her husband love this all-inclusive so much they consider it to be their “go to” resort when vacationing in this part of Mexico. It has many repeat guests who appreciate its lushly landscaped grounds meant for casual strolls, its beautiful main pool with waterfall feature and two swim-up bars, its fun and lively atmosphere (not “spring break” type fun, though), its multitude of things to do if you want to have an active vacation, dancing to the Imperial house band at night, and beautiful Mexican Hacienda architectural style. Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya, or VIM, as it is commonly called in social media circles, is one of the most popular adults-only all-inclusive resorts in the Riviera Maya. If you enjoy knowing resort details like I do, especially about a resort as lovely as Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya, this is a video you definitely want to see.

Similarly, aiming with your weapons is very much 'classic' survival horror you can aim in any direction, but moving your feet at the same time is unfortunately an impossibility for Caroline you're fixed in place. Enemies will often lie in wait, just out of sight of whatever camera happens to be fixed on Caroline it's a strong way of ramping up tension in certain scenarios, but in others, the lack of visual cues is downright frustrating, particularly when the odd positioning of the camera causes you to lose your sense of direction. Soon after, you pick up a lighter that can be used to illuminate the dark surroundings, and the shadows that dance across the rooms as you walk through them is a genuinely impressive sight to behold.Īs you explore, you'll encounter puzzles and enemies that will make die-hard survival horror fans grin from ear to ear. ![]() You awaken in a small x-ray room as protagonist Caroline Walker and immediately the fixed camera angles signify that this is old-school survival horror through and through. Once you get into the gameplay itself, however, the presentation fares much better. The game starts off on a bit of a sour note with an opening sequence that's both blurry and jittery it's almost a callback in itself to N64-era cutscenes, but it's clear that the presentation is simply a byproduct of the game's port on Switch, as such performance issues aren't noticeable on other consoles. It's a shame, then, that it largely struggles to measure up to such a high benchmark. Tormented Souls is a love letter to the classic horror games of the '90s a true homage that embraces the genre's origins. The classic survival horror tropes of the '90s - fixed camera angles, stationary aiming, and careful item management - have become all but extinct. Since the mid '00s, the genre has been bent and twisted to keep up with the changing times and the growing fatigue around overused mechanics in franchises like Resident Evil and Alone in the Dark. ![]() It's a phrase so familiar to fans of classic survival horror games that its appearance at the start of Tormented Souls almost feels comforting. "This game contains scenes of explicit violence and gore." 1/12/2024 0 Comments The brookhaven experiment wiki![]() ![]() Despite the violence in such games, the precision and aim required seemed to translate to improvements in surgical skills. A 2021 study showed that experience with first-person-shooter games, like Half-Life, boosted performance on a virtual reality surgical task. They can also be used to teach some serious precision hand-eye coordination, too. Of course, video games are more than just explosions and button-mashing. Maybe your next company retreat should involve a team-building exercise with flamethrowers and crossbows on Fortnite. Studies with adults have showed the same kind of results: that playing even a violent video game cooperatively increases pro-social behaviors in the real world. ![]() Furthermore, cooperative game players also reported feeling more competent and more connected to their playmates, suggesting that co-playing video games could be important in promoting not just pro-social behaviors, but also psychological satisfaction and self-esteem. And the team-playing kids agreed to donate larger sums of hypothetical prize money to charity. Children who engaged in co-op play were more likely to agree to give time to potential future experiments. Afterward, experimenters asked everyone if they’d be willing to donate more of their time to future experiments. In the experiment, some children played a game of pinball or a solo round of Fortnite, while another group played Fortnite in team-mode. The opposite of antisocial behavior, “pro-social” is defined as helping, sharing, and caring for others. One study had children ages 9-12 play Fortnite to see if cooperative game play could translate into pro-social behavior outside the game. But in cooperative mode, players must also help their teammates survive. On the surface, it’s kinda hard to imagine a game where players wield rocket launchers and axes against each other as being good for kids’ socialization. Take Fortnite, which is an online game in which players compete to be the last survivor. After all, with the increase in popularity of online cooperative gaming, it’s hard to call battle-style games exclusively violent or non-violent. Now, the data have been mixed, and there’s no conclusive evidence that violent video games promote antisocial behavior like aggression in children. More than a hundred journal articles have been written on the potential dangers of allowing little Johnny to play that first-person shooter game. No genre of video game has generated more research over the years than violent ones. Here are five ways scientists have used Ataris, Nintendo Wiis, and other systems to learn something new about our world. Today, they play a role in research ranging from microbiology to Artificial Intelligence. So from the early days, video games have been a tool for science and education. Voila - the age of electronic gaming was born. Using a five inch oscilloscope with two controllers, he created a sort of Pong-predecessor called Tennis for Two to simulate how a tennis ball moves. He was working at the Brookhaven National Laboratory and wanted to demonstrate the trajectory of objects in a more engaging way at the institute’s public visitor’s day. Think of William Higinbotham as the original Player 1. In fact, it was a nuclear physicist who invented the first video game back in 1958. As outrageous as that sounds, scientists aren’t exactly noobs when it comes to using video games in the pursuit of knowledge. You may have seen headlines recently about a team of scientists who taught neurons in a Petri dish to play Pong. #SciShow #science #education #learning #complexly Looking for SciShow elsewhere on the internet? Instead they contain only a blueprint for a component of the COVID-19 pathogen. Some of the new vaccines - so-called mRNA vaccines - are different from the established vaccines: they do not contain weakened or killed viruses. Overall, the approved vaccines are safe, according to the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) otherwise, they would not have authorized the vaccines. In addition to the typical vaccination reactions, there were also individual cases of sometimes severe side effects after vaccination, such as allergic shocks, which were reported in detail. These normal vaccine reactions are usually mild and subside after a few days. Fatigue, fever, headache and aching limbs are also not uncommon in the first three days after vaccination. "Good to Be Alive," arguably one of his catchiest hooks ever, is built on a chorus of " I wanna live like there's no tomorrow," while "The Sound of Our Breathing" is structured in pure radio-friendly style. On the surface, the songwriting can be deceptively simple. Rather than easy encouragement from someone who has been through the darkness and lived to tell about it, they are dispatches from the shadows between already and not yet, exploring the contrasts of fear and trust, darkness and light. The lyrics revisit recurring themes from his past work, taking a special interest in fear and the many ways it undermines our identity as God's beloved. While big drums as a pop staple can be overbearing, fortunately, the work of all the musicians here sets the mood and allows Gray's poignant writing to shine. It drives the rowdy Irish pub vibe of "No Thief Like Fear," lets the shimmering anthem "Good to Be Alive" soar, and urges the minimalist piano ballad "Nothing is Wasted" on to a stirring finish. From the opening aggressive clap-stomp to the slow, pounding beat that carries the final notes away, Paul Mabury's drum work grounds a diverse and current sound. Rather than choose the easy path when it comes to his art, Gray and the team behind his last project, Everything Sad is Coming Untrue, dig deeper to craft some of his most compelling work to date, a record that is, somehow, both singable pop and true to his folk songwriter roots, with lyrics that touch deeper places where fear and hope collide.Ī Way to See, like its predecessor, is an album where hooky melodies can thrive alongside intimate storytelling, but one interesting difference is a bigger drum presence, not in the over-produced "Nashville CCM" way, but as an anchor to give the songs texture to show their individual personalities. In a decade of music making, from hard-touring indie artist to sharing big venues with TobyMac and Third Day, Gray has proven over again that he's not one to shy away from honesty, both in his songs and from the stage.Īfter a breakthrough radio hit and the new audience it gained, it would make perfect sense if his third major release A Way to See in the Dark rode out the success a little longer with a batch of radio-friendly songs (plus a few acoustic tunes for the old-school fans). ![]() It was once said that writing is a simple thing: "All you do is sit down at the typewriter and open a vein." Tongue-in-cheek as that statement is, there might be truth to it the greatest art is often born from pain and soul-searching, and that "open vein" approach to songwriting is one of Jason Gray's most endearing qualities.
